Yobo Super Excited About Appointment

Football lovers have continued to be divided over the appointment of former Super Eagles’ skipper Joseph Yobo as the Assistant Coach of the team by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). While some believe he has no coaching experience and certificate for the job, others say he will succeed in his role having played for the team for thirteen year.

However, the man of the moment has come out for the first time to express his joy over his appointment.

Speaking on Ifeanyi Udeze’s Diary on Brila FM this morning, the former Everton and Fenerbahce defender said that he was super excited about the appointment.

“Guys, i wan say thank you to una most of all thank you to God, this is a big opportunity to be appointed Assistant Coach, to be part of the coaching crew of the Super Eagles. This is a team wey i know very very well and i am passionate about it so i am super excited about the opportunity.

“I dey very very happy and i dey look forward to the new chapter of my life and the new challenge wey dey ahead. Everything na God bring am so God go see me through. I know a lot of expectations out there. For now, i am just happy and i am looking forward to it”, he said.

Yobo, earned his senior national team cap in 2001, leading Nigeria to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations glory in South Africa. He retired in June, 2014 after Nigeria lost 0-2 to France in the Round of 16 of the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup.
