Wright: AFCON 2021 Is Being Disrespected By Poor Media Coverage

former Arsenal legend  Ian Wright, has stated that the AFCON 2021 tournament sheduled for January 9th to February 6th 2022 in Cameroon is been given poor attention by the media.

Wright made his intentions known to the public through his official Instagram handle, where he noted that the coverage of the bi-annual tournament is completely faced with racism.

Meanwhile Ex Gunner’s captain and , Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira called for the tournament to be given more respect while Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp in November used disparaging remarks against the tournament but later said he was misquoted and that English language was not his first tongue.


The 24-team biennial competition begins on 9 January and will feature a host of Premier League and European stars.

However, the former England international wished Cameroon a successful hosting of the AFCON tournament despite call for the cancellation of the game due to Covid-19 and Omicron Variant.

Algeria defeated Senegal 1 0 in the 2019 Edition in Egypt which handed the desert foxes only their second continental triumph in 29 tears however the quest to defend her crown remains the key talking point as Africa awaits its moment of glory as the 33rd edition of the continents most prestigious competition welcomes the whole of Africa to Cameroon.
