Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has rewarded Rivers United for winning the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Wike, who hosted the team and officials to a grand reception inside the government house, Port Harcourt at about 10:00 a.m today, announced a cash reward of $20.000 each for members of the team and a 2-week training tour in Madrid, in preparation for the CAF Champions League and the 2022/2023 NPFL season. He also conferred on members of the team the Governor Merit Service Award.

Rivers United won the league for the first time in their history with 77 points from 38 games and qualified for the CAF Champions Leagues.
