Head coach of the Edo state Rugby Association and former Technical Director of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation, Ntiense Williams has expressed joy over the commencement of the South-south rugby league which will take place in Benin City.
Williams made this known in a telephone interview with vcsports.sport.blog on Monday evening.
He stated that the league will run between Tuesday, 15th October and Wednesday, 16th with participating teams expected to arrive on Monday and depart on Thursday, 17th.

He added that Teams Rivers and Delta were already on ground while Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa were being expected.
The experienced tactician revealed that the league is ongoing in Lagos, Kaduna and Kano while that of South-south will be of two versions — the men’s Fifteens (15 A-side ) and the women’s Tens (10 A-side) respectively.
He concluded that the tournament will serve as an opportunity to showcase the quality of rugby being played in the southern region of the country.
