Head coach of the Edo state Rugby Association and former Technical Director of Nigeria Rugby Federation Ntiense Williams, has expressed joy over the commencement of the South-South rugby league which will take place in Benin City, the Edo state capital.
Williams made this known in an exclusive interview with vcsports.sport.blog on Monday. He stated that the league will run between Tuesday, 15th October, and Wednesday 16th, with participating teams expected to arrive on Monday and depart on Thursday.

He also added that Teams Rivers and Delta were already in Benin while Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa were yet to arrive.
The experienced tactician further revealed that the league is ongoing in Lagos, Kaduna and Kano states while that of South-South will be of two versions, with the males playing the Fifteens and the females playing the Tens.
He concluded that the league would serve as an opportunity to showcase the quality of rugby being played in the southern region of the country.
